Benny Blanco surprised his fiancée, Selena Gomez, during an Instagram video interview by revealing his unusual and therapeutic shower rituals, admitting he takes longer showers than she does.

“I might not shower every day,” the 36-year-old music producer said, “but when I do, I really take my time to contemplate life. I sit down in every shower.”

He then playfully asked Selena, 32, if she ever cries in the shower, which made her laugh. “Sometimes you just need a good cry,” he noted. “I often have realizations about death while I’m in there.”

Selena looked taken aback and responded, “Whoa.” Benny clarified, “I mean, I realize I’m going to die, but it hits me in the shower.” He added that he cries a little but then feels rejuvenated by the warm water.

Previously, Benny shared with People that he doesn’t believe in shampooing his curls every day and skips showers sometimes, feeling that the natural oils on his skin need time to replenish.

On December 10, he proposed to Selena with an 8-carat marquise diamond ring estimated at $225,000 after 18 months of dating. The couple first met in 2008 during a business meeting when Selena was just 16, and Benny later worked on her album Revival and her 2023 single Single Soon.

In their Valentine’s Day cover story for Interview, Benny expressed his fears about Selena potentially waking up one day and saying, “What? No.” She reassured him, saying, “You’re stuck with me.”

“I feel valued, seen, and respected,” she continued. “I was alone for five years before we got together, and that made me appreciate someone like Ben.”
