Selena Gomez is reportedly gearing up to release new music just ahead of the BAFTAs this Sunday.
The “Come & Get It” singer, who last released an album titled Rare in 2020, is set to surprise her fans with a secret single on Friday.
According to The Sun, this track will debut before she competes for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Netflix film Emilia Perez at the BAFTAs in London.
The song is slated for release on Valentine’s Day, coinciding with her first romantic holiday with new fiancé Benny Blanco.
In 2022, Selena released “My Mind & Me,” a song featured in her documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.
The Only Murders in the Building star has hinted that her next album might be her last, as she wishes to focus more on acting, despite having previously enjoyed hits like “Love You Like a Love Song,” “Come & Get It,” and “Wolves.”
Her comments come in the wake of the Emilia Perez controversy, where the film faced media scrutiny after it was revealed that her co-star Karla Sofia Gascon had posted racist tweets targeting the Muslim community and the late George Floyd.
Selena herself encountered negativity online, with a mean tweet from the Spanish actress referring to her as a “rich rat.”
At the Santa Barbara Film Festival, where she received the Virtuosos Award, Selena addressed the situation, stating, “Some of the magic has disappeared. But I choose to continue to be proud of what I’ve done, and I’m just grateful.”
She added, “I live with no regrets, and I would do this movie over and over again if I could.”
This comes just weeks after she lost over 700,000 Instagram followers following backlash from her emotional video about President Trump’s mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.
