The jaw-dropping value of Selena Gomez’s engagement ring has been revealed.
The 32-year-old singer and actress surprised fans on Wednesday by announcing her engagement to boyfriend Benny Blanco after a year and a half of dating.
She shared the exciting news on Instagram, showcasing her stunning diamond engagement ring to her 422 million followers and captioning it with, “forever begins now…”
It’s now estimated that the exquisite ring could be worth over £800,000 ($1 million).
Laura Taylor, a jeweler specializing in engagement and wedding rings at Lorel Diamonds, told MailOnline, “Benny’s choice for Selena is an exquisite and timeless design, perfectly suited to her style.”
The ring features a remarkable marquise-cut diamond at its center, estimated to weigh around 8 carats, set on a yellow gold pavé band.
“The marquise cut, known for its elongated and pointed shape, is a bold choice that enhances brilliance and elongates the finger, creating an elegant look,” she explained. This cut dates back to the 18th century when King Louis XV of France commissioned a diamond shape that resembled the smile of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour.
Laura added, “The pavé band, with its continuous row of smaller diamonds, adds an extra layer of sparkle, beautifully complementing the central marquise diamond. This setting maximizes the overall brilliance while maintaining sophistication.”
The central diamond is likely of exceptional quality, with VVS1 clarity and a color grading in the D-F range. Laura estimates the ring’s value to exceed £800,000 ($1 million), depending on the specific diamond characteristics.
In her engagement post, Selena also included a photo of herself displaying the ring, with Blanco, 36, embracing her and kissing her head.
Blanco, a renowned music producer, reportedly proposed during a romantic nighttime picnic featuring Taco Bell.
The couple received an outpouring of support from their A-list friends, including Cardi B, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Gomez’s close friend Taylor Swift.
