Jade Beatson, a Scottish fashion designer known for her label Little Lies, has unveiled a new third jersey for St Johnstone FC, drawing inspiration from a dress worn by pop icon Taylor Swift. The striking design reflects the green dress Swift sported during a dinner with friends in New York earlier this year.
Swift, who recently concluded her Eras Tour with three sold-out shows at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, chose the Perthshire designer’s creation, priced at £58, for her night out. The football kit captures the luxurious crushed velvet aesthetic of Swift’s dress and aims to raise funds for Fans Supporting Foodbanks and Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance.
The demand for Beatson’s dresses has been remarkable, with reports of 100 units selling weekly. Following her initial purchase, Swift placed a second order shortly after her outing, further highlighting the popularity of the design.
Beatson, whose father, Billy Beatson, is a former player for St Johnstone, was approached by the club’s American owner, Adam Webb, to create the new kit. In launching the design, she shared her excitement: “Taylor Swift wore our dress, and it went completely viral across the globe. The response was overwhelming, leading to significant sales that continue to thrive.”
Webb was inspired by the viral success and wanted to merge the story behind the dress with the club’s identity. Beatson expressed her enthusiasm for the challenge, noting the unique opportunity to blend fashion with football while supporting important charitable causes.
