Selena Gomez recently announced her return to the reboot of her iconic sitcom, Wizards of Waverly Place. The original series, which aired from 2007 to 2012 on the Disney Channel, catapulted Selena to fame as she portrayed Alex Russo, a teenage girl with magical abilities. This year, the franchise was revived with a sequel series titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, which premiered last month.
Selena made a special appearance in the pilot episode, reprising her role as Alex. Now, at 32 years old and serving as an executive producer for the new show, she revealed that she will return for one of the final two episodes. She shared this exciting news through a touching Instagram post featuring behind-the-scenes photos from the finale shoot, seemingly in front of a studio audience.
One of the images included a selfie with a group of children, suggesting their role as the audience, alongside a heartfelt caption expressing her joy in making kids laugh. Additionally, her post featured a picture with David Henrie, who played her brother Justin in the original series. The reboot’s cast includes newcomers like Janice LeAnn Brown and Alkaio Thiele.
Reflecting on her journey, Selena acknowledged the challenges of growing up in the spotlight, admitting that while she has no regrets, she sometimes felt “stunted” by her early start in showbiz. She expressed appreciation for her supportive family but also recognized the pressures that complicated her sense of self during her twenties.
