Benny Blanco recently shared a touching behind-the-scenes video of his proposal to Selena Gomez.
The video captures the moment at a Taco Bell-themed picnic where the 36-year-old music producer proposed to the 32-year-old star of Only Murders in the Building.
This sweet moment comes amid some fan backlash regarding the engagement, as Blanco’s past social media behavior has resurfaced.
He posted the video on his Instagram and TikTok, cleverly set to Selena’s song “Good for You.” The track features the lyric “I’m a marquise diamond,” which corresponds to the cut of the diamond in Selena’s engagement ring.
The couple clinked champagne glasses, and the video transitions to Selena, who looked overjoyed.
Blanco’s romantic picnic was filmed on a soundstage, adding a unique touch to the setting.
Selena first announced her engagement on December 11, sharing a photo of her ring along with several affectionate snapshots with Blanco. She captioned her post, “Forever begins now.”
The couple began dating in June 2023 after a decade of friendship, having met and collaborated on music early in Selena’s career. Blanco has produced several of her biggest hits, including “I Can’t Get Enough” and “Same Old Love.”
Blanco incorporated Selena’s favorite food, Taco Bell, into the proposal, leading fans to speculate that the fast-food chain sponsored the event. However, Taco Bell denied any corporate involvement but extended their best wishes to the couple, stating, “We can hear the wedding bells now! We’re honored to play even the smallest of roles in their love story.”
Jeweler Laura Taylor described the engagement ring as an exquisite design that perfectly suits Selena’s style. The ring features a stunning marquise-cut diamond, estimated to be around 8 carats, set on a yellow gold pavé band.
This isn’t the first time Taco Bell has played a role in their romance. Earlier this year, Blanco shared that for Valentine’s Day, he surprised Selena with Taco Bell, movie theater nachos, and deep-fried pickles from Texas—her favorite.
Last month, Selena posted an image of Blanco on Instagram, highlighting his affection: “Not only do you love me unconditionally… You always get me my Taco Bell Mexican pizza.”
Blanco also revealed on Kai Cenat’s Twitch stream that it was Selena who made the first move: “She asked me out. It was crazy… like we were just talking, and then she said, ‘You wanna get dinner?’ And I went to the dinner, and I had no idea.” He added that he wasn’t nervous, given their personal and professional history.
