She has struggled with illness and body-shaming attacks over the past few years.
However, Selena Gomez seems to be recovering as she is on vacation and her new album is only a few days away from being released.
Off the coast of Hawaii, the 27-year-old pop sensation was recently photographed on the deck of an opulent yacht wearing a green bikini.
After completing work on her third studio album, Rare, which will be released next week, she most definitely deserves some time to herself.
As she relaxed next a female friend sunning on the opulent boat, she seemed to be in a good mood.
Selena wore a sport shirt, high-waisted trousers, and an olive green bikini.
She wore little makeup to flaunt her inherent beauty, and her brunette hair was arranged in disheveled waves.
She was spotted earlier in the day sporting a matching hair wrap and a sheer white dress over her swimsuit.
Selena just talked about the impact body shamers have had on her in a September interview on Raquelle Stevens’ video program Giving Back Generation, so it’s lovely to see her feeling so upbeat.
The singer said in the interview that the “attacks” had “messed” her up.
According to the Wolves hitmaker, who disclosed her illness in 2015, “I really started noticing more of the body image stuff at that point because I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I deal with a lot of health issues.”
Selena blamed her disease, her meds, and other health concerns for her weight fluctuations.
Regarding her weight, she stated, “It’s the medication I have to take for the rest of my life — to be honest, it depends on the month.”
However, the star’s body was critiqued by some.
So, when people started criticizing me for [gaining weight], I took note. Actually, that’s just my truth. I vacillate. It is contingent upon the events in my life.
It was challenging, though, to avoid being influenced by the remarks.
That truly affected me. “I was messed up for a while by that,” she said.
She has made an effort to overcome the negativity, though.
She told a podcaster acquaintance, “I don’t want to expose myself to everyone and hear what they think about it.”
