The 32-year-old actress from Only Murders in the Building, who recently revealed a heartfelt moment with her goddaughter following her 2024 Emmy loss, was seen responding to critics in a now-viral video on X while attending a Women in Film event.
In the video, the singer defended herself against criticism that she was “vulnerable” when it came to talking about her health and requesting “assistance.”
At a table beside her younger sister Gracie, Gomez said, “I really think that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help and you want help.”
That is not deplorable. Yes, I did disclose that I am unable to conceive. Yes, I did disclose that I suffer from bipolar disorder.
The other guests in the room gave Selena applause and cheers as she finished speaking.
“To be an advocate for women and that’s why I share, that’s why I like to be honest, because everybody is going through something,” the celebrity went on to say.
‘I don’t have it all put together,’ Gomez said bluntly. You know, I’m not a whatever. That’s all I can be; I’m me.
The former Disney Channel actress moved to her sister and put a hand on her shoulder, saying, “So, do not ever let anyone tell you that you are not a good person.”
‘So, screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim,’ Selena said near the end of the video. To me, you are a survivor.
Her comment was made soon after the celebrity was interviewed for Vanity Fair’s October issue earlier in the month.
In an interview with the publication, Gomez disclosed that she had health problems that keep her from becoming a mother.
I regret not having mentioned it before, but I am unable to bear my own children. Numerous health problems I have could endanger both my life and the lives of the unborn child. I had to grieve for a long time about that.
