Selena Gomez was compelled to restate her lupus diagnosis after fans on social media noticed that in a recent video, her hands appeared to be “shaking.”
Earlier this month, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter posted a video to TikTok in which she flaunted her skincare and beauty regimen.
The star of Only Murders in the Building attempted to apply micellar water to a sponge at one point in the film, but her hands looked shaky.
Later on, Gomez explained that the trembling was, in fact, a side effect of the medication she was taking for her lupus.
“Lol, I shake from my lupus medication,” she commented on a now-deleted TikTok video that another user had shared.
Read my disclaimer as well. I’m not a pro [emoji for laughing].
In 2014, the singer of Calm Down received a lupus diagnosis.
The Mayo Clinic states that lupus is an autoimmune illness that develops when the body’s immune system targets its own tissues and organs.
Numerous bodily systems, including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs, can be impacted by inflammation brought on by lupus.
The illness meant that Gomez needed a kidney transplant in 2017.
Specifically, she talked about her struggle with the illness in the 2022 documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.
She remarked, “I haven’t felt it since I was younger.” “I just cry all the time when I wake up in the morning because it hurts so much.”
Over the years, Gomez has also had to cope with mental health difficulties, such as bipolar disorder.
Gomez is filming the third season of her popular show Only Murders in the Building while battling an inflammatory illness.
