Star singer Taylor Swift, on the other hand, opted for a more edgy appearance when she attended the 40th anniversary of the MTV Music Video Awards, dressing in tartan.

Swift looked stunning in a black velvet shorts and a zip-up corset top skirt from her Dior tartan dress when she arrived at the UBS Arena in New York.

She completed the look with strappy leather fingerless gloves that hung past her elbows and a pair of thigh-high boots.

The dress made its debut in June during the launch of Dior’s 2025 Cruise collection in the Perthshire gardens of Drummond Castle close to Crieff, where Anya Taylor-Joy, Rosamund Pike, and Jennifer Lawrence were among the famous guests.

Mary, Queen of Scots, and Scottish artisan traditions served as inspiration for the collection.

Swift’s attire was different from her regular red carpet looks, which typically see her adorned in gowns with more classic designs and lots of crystals, jewels, or sequins. 

The singer chose to don the Scottish-inspired ensemble following her three sold-out performances in Edinburgh this summer.
