In anticipation of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Thursday night opening against the Baltimore Ravens, Taylor Swift has been greeted with wide arms upon her return to Arrowhead.

On opening night of the NFL season, the Chiefs take on the Ravens. Andy Reid’s team is attempting an unprecedented “three-peat” after winning the Super Bowl for the second time in a row the previous season.

Swift went back to Arrowhead with her boyfriend’s family to see Thursday’s game in a private suite while Travis Kelce was playing.

And the return of the pop megastar to the stands thrills Kansas City.

To welcome her back, the Chiefs played a footage of Swift watching the season opener with Kelce’s father Ed and included a quotation from her 2017 song “Call It What You Want.”

The consecutive “Football season is here, call it what you want,” wrote the Super Bowl victors. 

‘Happy return, @taylorswift13,’ accompanied by a heart emoji. 

The Chiefs’ social media post has caused controversy among football fans, as was to be expected.

The NFL team was criticised by some for posting a tribute to Swift during their game versus the Ravens. One person wrote, “here we go again with this s**t.”

Said another way: “Pay attention to the game.”

A third, however, pleaded with her to “stop showing her man.”
