After releasing this picture of Gomez sporting a joyful blue floral bikini, Los Angeles designer La’Mariette said that the “Day Trip” bikini served as the model for the company’s rebranding.

“I rebranded as La’Mariette because of this print. It seems lively, colourful, and expressive of who I am.” The co-founder of the business, Theresa Marie Mingus, posted on her website and Instagram. “It was crucial to me that each outfit and print in our new collection felt like an extension of myself. For me, this print evokes memories. Every time I wear it, I feel the same wave of nostalgia; it takes me back to a day trip that Selena and I did to Newport when I was thinking of renaming my business. We laughed and spent the entire day on a boat, exploring some amazing vintage boutiques. It was one of those days you wish you could go back and experience. I don’t frequently use Instagram to find inspiration when I’m working on a new collection. Frequently, I get that spark from vintage pictures of my friends’ mothers or amazing Sports Illustrated articles from the 1980s and 1990s, which feature strong, athletic, and utterly genuine women.”
