Selena Gomez has a new tattoo on her body.
The singer, who is 28 years old, showed off her new tattoo in a video shared on Facebook on Thursday. The tattoo artist was the famous Keith Scott “Bang Bang” McCurdy.
The text said, “We [heart] @selenagomez,” and it showed a small black cross that she had put on her chest.
The star has a tattoo that seems to honour her Christian faith. Earlier this year, she said that she is “very, very spiritual.”
“I believe in God, but I’m not religious.” I’ve been a Christian for a while. ‘I don’t talk about it too much because it has a bad name,’ Selena told Vogue in March.
“I just want to make it clear that I love having faith and believing in what I believe in,” she said. “That’s what really gets me through.”
A face mask was worn by Gomez to protect herself from the current coronavirus pandemic while she got her tattoo. Her hair was pulled back in a clip.
Page Six says that Gomez now has 15 tattoos, and the cross is the newest one.
Many of them were made by McCurdy, including the word “Rare,” which is the name of her next album coming out in 2020.
She has a lowercase “g” tattoo behind her left ear to honour her half-sister Gracie Teefey, who is seven years old.
Ink on the singer of “Selfish Love”‘s right hand was first a music note. She got it in 2012 because, as she told Access Hollywood at the time, “music is a big part of my life.”
The reason I was named after a singer is because I am a singer. She said, “So that’s what I got.”
As an ode to self-love, she had McCurdy add a four-inch line of Arabic writing in 2014. The message on her back said, “Love yourself first.”
As a way to honour her mother, Selena put the Roman letters for 76 on the back of her neck.
In 2012, McCurdy said that she did it as “honour to a family member who [Gomez] said means a lot to her.” Her mom was born in 1976, so the tattoo was a good way to honour her.
It was also said that Gomez “held her best friend’s hand the whole time” because she was afraid it would hurt.
