What you don’t associate him with are roles that receive critical acclaim, a performance that makes the critics sit up and take notice. With his upcoming film, The Smashing Machine, The Rock hopes to change that.

The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie, has debuted with its first image. Fans are also having a difficult time accepting the 52-year-old’s drastic change in appearance in order to play renowned MMA fighter Mark Kerr. Many, even after glancing, were unable to identify him.

The likes of Emily Blunt, who will portray Kerr’s wife Dawn Staples, will be joining The Rock. This will be the pair’s reunion following their partnership during the Jungle Cruise. The Rock’s performance and metamorphosis have captured the attention of the viewers, even though the Oppenheimer star is poised to provide a fresh perspective to the film.
