Joe Alwyn, Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend, felt ‘depressed and emotionally drained’ amid angry speculation about their breakup – as insiders reveal the REAL reason he finally broke his silence about their romance

After being “emotionally drained” by all the questions about his breakup from Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn finally decided to talk about it. They had been together for six years and broke up after her latest record came out.

In an interview with the Sunday Times Style, the British actor, 33, talked about his relationship with the US pop star, 34, for the first time. He said they had “a long, loving, fully committed relationship.” He also said their breakup was “hard to navigate.”

It was said that Alwyn addressed the rumours so that things could “move forward” after Swift seemed to make several mean comments about him on her April album The Tortured Poets Department.

A person with knowledge told DailyMail.com, “Joe wanted to get this over with so he can move on with his life and his career.”

He didn’t want to say anything because he thought it would all go away, but it hasn’t. Taylor has made a lot of money off of their split by making an album about it. Until then, he was cast as “Taylor’s ex.”

Insiders tell DailyMail.com Alwyn, 33, addressed the speculation surrounding their romance in order to ‘move forward’ after the attention became ’emotionally draining’

The insider claimed Alwyn initially wanted to avoid publicly discussing their relationship, but the persistent interest became too much to ignore – especially when he is on the promotional tour for his new film, Kinds of Kindness.

‘He cannot go anywhere without being asked about Taylor,’ they said. ‘He had his people tell everyone in advance that he was not going to answer questions about Taylor, but he knew that is all people wanted to ask him about.

‘It became depressing and emotionally draining.

‘Their romance was private – quite the opposite of her relationship with Travis [Kelce]. It was partly due to covid restrictions, but they also preferred it that way.

‘Joe has moved on and is doing promotional work for his films and upcoming projects, so he decided he needed to get this out to move forward. He wants to be asked about his films, not about Taylor.’

The insider said Alwyn has no ‘ill will’ for the singer, who he dated from 2017 until early 2023, but would like her to understand how hurtful her lyrics can be.

‘He wishes her no ill will, but he also needed her to know that appearing to address their relationship without confirming who she is singing about can have a lasting and hurtful effect on the people/ men involved,’ they said.

‘He does not want to discuss this anymore, but he knew that if he didn’t say anything, it would go on indefinitely. Swifties never let anything die.’

Swift, 34, appeared to make a series of pointed jabs about Alwyn on her latest album The Tortured Poets Department

On her most recent record, The Tortured Poets Department, Swift, 34, seemed to make a lot of direct jabs at Alwyn.

Swift seemed to be very open about their breakup on her most recent album. Fans think that the hurtful lyrics about a guy breaking her dreams of marriage and children are a direct reference to Alwyn, but she has never said for sure.

She sings in Loml, “You s**t talked me under the table.” There are talking rings and cradles. The fool. Animal-like. I’m going through the web of lies.

She sings in Lavendar Haze, “You swore you loved me, but where were the signs? I died on the altar waiting for the proof.”

Some other lines say, “I’m mad at you, give me all your youth for free.”

In the fourth song, “Down Bad,” Swift says she cried at the gym and talks about how the end of their relationship made her feel “hollow.”

Swift sings about leaving “the house on the Heath” in “So Long London,” which seems to be a direct reference to Alwyn, who lives in the city.

Swift has since moved on with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (pictured in February)Since then, Swift has moved on with Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs:

Before TTPD came out on April 11, Swift said she was letting go of the “sensational and sorrowful” time that inspired the album. However, she has never said for sure which songs are about Alwyn.

She wrote, “This part of the author’s life is now over; the chapter is closed and boarded up.” “Once the wounds have healed, there is nothing to get back at someone.”

Swift, who is now dating NFL star Travis Kelce, stayed out of the public eye while she was dating Alwyn. The two were very private with each other and were rarely seen together in public.

A few days after TTPD came out, people close to the actor told DailyMail.com that he was going to keep quiet about the record and had no plans to respond to it.Alwyn is turning his focus on promoting his upcoming movie, Kinds of Kindness (pictured with costar Emma Stone) and does not want to face questions about SwiftAlwyn is focusing on pushing his next movie, Kinds of Kindness (pictured with co-star Emma Stone), and doesn’t want to be asked about Swift.

But on Sunday, he finally talked about the breakup. He told Sunday Times Style, “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years.”  “That’s tough to get around in.” The fact that it’s suddenly in the public domain a week later and people from outside the country can weigh in is strange and out of the ordinary.

In addition, he said, “As everyone knows, we both agreed to keep the more private parts of our relationship a secret.” I never thought it was something to sell, and I don’t see any reason to now.

Also, this was a little more than a year ago. I feel lucky to be in a great place in my life, both professionally and emotionally. I’m feeling great.
