Additionally, at the first of three stadium tour events in Scotland, Swift engaged with the crowd to aid a fan who needed assistance on the general admission floor.
Taylor Swift witnessed a couple get engaged in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Friday, June 7, with the melancholic folklore hit “Cardigan” serving as the background music. Swift made a comment on the marriage proposal she had just witnessed from the stage in front of a crowded stadium, seemingly moved by the touching moment.
Swift grinned as she sang, “You put me on and said I was your favourite.” As she concluded the song, which was performed atop the Folklore cabin of The Eras Tour, she turned to face the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium audience.
“I love doing this whole show outside because I think I saw someone get engaged over here,” she stated, drawing applause and reassuring everyone that she wasn’t dreaming. “Did it really happen?” Swift exclaimed, “YES!” with her arms raised after asking in anticipation. She also giggled.
“You’re completely clueless,” Swift went on. “You know I never get to see that? It’s usually dark at night.” That being said, congratulations—it’s not now! Whoa.
“It’s amazing, I saw the entire thing!” she exclaimed. “Wow, that’s incredible.”
She joined the couple, picking up her guitar and said, “Thank you for doing that at my show. It’s a significant moment. Big!
Later in the evening, when the singer performed her much-anticipated acoustic set, solo, and had some audience contact at the endstage, the extra light in Edinburgh helped her ensure her fans’ safety.
The diva stopped singing the bridge mid-strum in “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” from the 3am edition of Midnights, which she paired with snippets of “I Know Places” from 1989 as one of her surprise performances at the concert.
She exclaimed, “I need help right in front of me, please, right in front of me,” to the melody of the song. I’m just going to keep playing till we figure it out.
She added, “Right there,” gesturing with her guitar to a person who was in need of assistance on the venue’s general admission floor. “I’m just going to keep playing ’til somebody helps them,” she said. We will not go on singing. We’re just going to keep discussing the folks we assist right in front of me. Tell me when, please. I could do this all night,” she finally said before starting up again when she was certain the person had received the support they required.
Swift performed a piano mashup of Evermore’s “‘Tis the Damn Season” and Lover’s “Daylight” after the guitar solo.
