When it came to her workout regimen in preparation for the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift did not spare any details.
The vocalist of “Style” recently opened out about the rigorous training that she underwent in order to masterfully execute a three-hour presentation that included many dance routines, over 40 songs, and a dozen wardrobe changes.
“I knew this tour was harder than anything I’d ever done before by a long shot,” Taylor said in an interview with TIME that was published on December 6. Taylor was named Person of the Year by the magazine. “I used to run on the treadmill every day and sang the full set list aloud. Swift for swift tracks, and a brisk stroll or jog for leisurely ones.”
Six months before to her debut performance in Arizona, the “Anti-Hero” singer intensified her training regimen, attending Dogpound, a gym located in New York City. She added “strength, conditioning, and weights” to her routine there.
Getting in shape was just one hurdle to clear; she still needed to improve her choreography. Taylor hired choreographer Mandy Moore to assist with that after friend Emma Stone suggested the dance expert.
“I’m not very good at learning choreography,” Taylor acknowledged. “In order to instill it in my bones, I trained in dance for three months.” In order to be able to joke about with the spectators without losing my stream of thought, I wanted to be well practiced.”
The 33-year-old made the decision to give up drinking in addition to training. “Doing that show with a hangover,” Taylor said. “I don’t want to know that world.”
The celebrity’s preparation clearly paid off because she discovered her inner power during the undertaking.
“I know I’m going on that stage whether I’m sick, injured, heartbroken, uncomfortable, or stressed,” Taylor said. That now becomes a part of who I am as a person. Unless there is a force majeure, I will perform if someone purchases a ticket for my show.”
It’s evident that effort pays rewards. See the most amazing moments from Taylor’s Eras Tour by continuing to read.
