Charlie Puth finally responded to Taylor Swift’s name-dropping in a song off her most recent album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” last month, with a song of his own.

The 32-year-old Puth said to his Instagram fans on Tuesday, “My new song HERO is about when you see someone you love hurting themselves, ruining the things in their life that are good, but you just can’t save them.”
“One of the hardest songs” he’s ever written, according to him, is the new release.
“I wrote it in the hopes that it would fill in the BLANK for you as it did for me, and that you’ve experienced something similar in your life.” he said. “I am thrilled to present my upcoming album to you, particularly this song as it serves as an excellent preview of what’s to come.”
He offered Swift, 34, a shoutout while remarking that he has “never put out a song like this before.”

“I want to thank @taylorswift for letting me know musically that I just couldn’t keep this on my hard drive any longer. It’s very different for me,” Puth exclaimed. “This is the single artwork, and on May 24th, HERO is yours.”
“Thank you to all of my fans—you’ll never know how much you mean to me,” he said in closing.
Swift has not yet commented on Puth’s announcement in the open.
The title track of the pop star’s 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which was published on April 19, makes reference to Puth.
She sings, “We decided that Charlie Puth ought to be a more well-known artist.”
At the time, Puth gently addressed the song’s lyrics by reposting a picture of Swift to his Story, implying that the song was mentioned.
Overall, it’s thought that the song is about her relationship with her ex-boyfriend Matty Healy.
With “So Long, London” purportedly being about Joe Alwyn, Swift’s 35-year-old boyfriend, the vocalist of 1975, wasn’t the only one who appeared to be named on the album.

Swift also made an appearance to sing in “The Alchemy” and “So High School” about her current beau, Travis Kelce.
Since last summer, she has been dating the 34-year-old tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs.
