Travis Kelce brought gifts with him when he went to Paris to support Taylor Swift at her Eras Tour.
A Kansas City Chiefs tight end bought his girlfriend a Derby Gold and Diamond Horseshoe Necklace ($1,495) from S. R. Blackinton, the family business that has been making the Derby prize for decades. He got it in Louisville earlier this month while he was there for the Kentucky Derby. Susanne Blackinton-Juaire, co-owner of the company, and her daughter Skyla Blackinton told Page Six Style that they gave Kelce the limited-edition design, which is made from recycled 14-karat gold from this year’s Kentucky Derby trophy, to give to Swift, who didn’t go to the famous horse race because she had to get ready for her tour.
The two say, “Our family has been making the trophy since 1975, and we heard he would be there. Since it was a big year for both of them, we wanted to give them a few very special pieces.”
“He was really nice and thankful!”
Swift is pretty much always found with Easter eggs, so she must have liked the secret message on the bottom of the horseshoe: “Wishing you luck.”
The necklace has six round brilliant-cut diamonds set in it. It is part of the brand’s 2024 Derby Gold Jewelry Collection, which also has a similar lapel pin and other designs inspired by the pins that jockeys in early 1900s Europe used to get before races.
The collection was made with the same gold that was used to make the Derby prize. “My mother and I have dreamed of it and have been working on it for years,” Skyla says.
Kelce bought Swift a necklace and a pair of sterling silver sippers with a horseshoe and wishbone design on top. The two of them can enjoy a mint julep together between her show dates.
