People say that Taylor Swift has royal blood in her veins.

A genealogist’s study says that the 34-year-old singer-songwriter is related to both a French king and movie star Johnny Depp.

The head of research at MyHeritage, Roi Mandel, told TODAY.com on Friday that one of her relatives was King Louis XIV, the French king who built the Palace of Versailles.

Mandel says that the famous person is related to King Louis XIV eleven times, as an eighth cousin. King Louis XIV was the French king who built the Palace of Versailles and ruled from 1643 to 1715.

The singer of the hit song “Fortnight” called her Paris show “female rage: the musical.” She is also connected to actor Johnny Depp.

The family expert told the news source that Swift’s connection to royalty is “not surprising” or “rare,” but he still thought it was a “amazing” find. 

“That doesn’t happen very often because if you look at Europe, you can see that all the royal families there are linked,” he said.

He also said, “They’re all cousins and, as they say, the founding fathers.” “Their descendants eventually came to the U.S. many generations later.”

The genealogist also said that the link is “interesting” because the king liked music and the arts as well. 

Mandel said, “The link to Louis XIV is interesting because XIV was the king who built the beautiful Palace of Versailles, where all the parties were spectacular.” “He played a lot of music there.” He played the guitar. He loved traditional music very much. 

The researcher said that he and his team found the information when they were looking into Swift’s family ties to Europe. 

On the singer’s father’s side of the family tree, it was found that her relatives were some of the first people to come from England to Massachusetts.

Another surprising family member is Johnny Depp, who is said to be her seventh cousin once removed. 

And earlier this year, Ancestry showed that Swift is connected to Emily Dickinson, another poet who was tortured. 

The family company says that the writers are sixth cousins three times removed. 

Swift has never said in public that they are related, but in 2022 she did talk about the author from that time.

The Nashville Songwriters Association International gave her the Songwriter-Artist of the Decade Award. She said, “If my lyrics sound like a letter Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother wrote while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the “quill” genre.”
