Prior to being chosen for the character of Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious 6, Statham was being considered for the part of Owen Shaw, his younger brother, who was a former SAS agent before becoming a mercenary. Actor Luke Evans was eventually cast for the role. However, Statham wasn’t the only candidate for the part. The Transporter star was up against competition from a well-known Marvel actor for the coveted role.

Tennant David challenged Jason Statham to play a pivotal part in the Fast & Furious film series.

It is certain that Jason Statham will take over for the Rambo star as he has said that he will be leaving the franchise after the movie. Given that Statham’s character Lee Christmas is typically regarded as a hothead who frequently doesn’t get along with others, save for Stallone’s character, his taking a larger role in The Expendables 4 could prove to be an intriguing turn in the story. Giving Christmas, played by Statham, a leadership role might be the start of an intriguing character arc for movies to come.
