Fans who were hoping that Taylor Swift would go to the Met Gala this year were let down when the pop star didn’t show up on Monday, December 1.
When Swift last went to the Met Gala, it was in 2016 when she helped plan the “Manus x Machina”-themed event.
Swift, who is 34 years old, is still on her Eras Tour. On May 9, she will be performing in Paris.
Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, sparked new rumors that Swift would be there when she reportedly told Jenna Hager, “I hope she comes and enjoys the exhibit.”
Many disappointed fans took to Twitter, with one writing, “The Met Gala is over for me unless Taylor Swift shows up.”
“Wow, Taylor Swift didn’t show up even though Anna Wintour asked her to.” “#MetGala,” wrote someone else.
Someone else wrote, “She should have been at the Met tonight.”
“The Met Gala is over?” Is Rihanna not there? No Beyoncé? Why not Billie Eilish? Why not Taylor Swift? Katy Perry? Not Lady Gaga? Is Blake lively not there? Wth?? “Why???” asked one Twitter user.
Some people thought that Swift’s silence was more related to her fight with Kim Kardashian.
“I don’t know why so many people thought Taylor Swift would be at the Met Gala.” The Met Gala is where the Kardashians hang out. It’s not an accident that Tay hasn’t been since the fight began, they wrote.
“no” to Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Blake Lively, Katy Perry, and Billie Eilish “The Met Gala is over,” said someone else, adding a sad face emoji.
“Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, or Lady Gaga have not yet shown up at the Met Gala.” “For me, I’m losing interest,” one person wrote.
After Wintour sparked new rumors that Swift might be at this year’s Met Gala, the news came out.
Jenna Bush Hager talked to Vogue’s global style director in person. She later told her cohosts on Today that she had asked the 74-year-old whether Taylor would be walking the famous steps on Monday night.
Jenna, 42, remembered the conversation and said this about her oldest daughter Anna: “I also had to ask because Mila Hager asked if Taylor was going to be there, and she (Anna) said, “I hope she comes and likes the exhibit.”
“So that could be yes or no, which is what the reports are kind of saying,” Jenna said. Her cohosts Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin looked very interested.
Hoda, 59, joked, “And your accent is on point,” while Sheinelle, 46, who is going to the Met Gala on Monday night, said, “You just made me excited.”
It was said last week that Taylor and her boyfriend, football player Travis Kelce, would not be going to this year’s dinner.
She just released a new record called The Tortured Poets Department and is thought to be skipping the high-fashion event for a simpler reason: her tour schedule is too busy.
Taylor will instead be getting ready for the next stop on her very popular Eras Tour, which will be at the Paris La Défense Arena on May 9.
Also, TMZ claimed earlier in April that Taylor and Travis, both 34, would not be attending the prestigious event. However, neither of them has publicly explained why they have chosen not to attend.
