In advance of his appearance at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala, Ed Sheeran spoke with Melvin Robert of “Extra.” The singer-songwriter is getting ready to play a gig at New York’s Barclays Center to commemorate the tenth anniversary of his 2014 album “X,” also known as “Multiply.”

“I look back on it and it seems like yesterday, but in the last ten years, like, a lot has happened,” he said to Melvin. I’m currently married and have two children. Since then, I believe I’ve worked on five albums. Thus, indeed, a long time has passed.

Melvin questioned him about his best recording-related memory. I was in Shangri-La, Rick Rubin’s studio, for roughly four months. We performed the record live, essentially redoing the entire thing. He’s not so much a producer as a’reducer,’ I suppose. He enjoys taking things apart. That was one of the things he taught me. is makes is one of my most treasured memories.

Additionally, he declared, “I think it’s great,” of Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” She always does such amazing work with Aaron [Dessner], and this record is really strong, in my opinion.

Mel inquired on the best counsel Taylor had ever given him because he had earlier said that his relationship with her is similar to therapy. “I find that talking to people in the same industry as you…,” Ed retorted. Of course, I have a large group of childhood pals with whom I can talk about everything. However, I suppose that when you have someone in the same industry as you, they receive the same benefits.”

Speaking about his support for the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Ed remarked, “Yeah, I really enjoy baseball. But rather than being like, “This is my team,” I’m kind of like, because I’m English, I enjoy to watch the sport. This is not my group. So I suppose I’ll declare tonight that I’m a Dodgers supporter.”
