Taylor Swift has chosen to donate her money to a worthy cause.
The 24-year-old gave $50,000 to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in order to support the purchase of therapeutic equipment for kids with cancer.
The ‘high-tech music therapy’ program, which aims to calm and uplift the center’s patients, will benefit from the kind donation.
‘Taylor Swift’s contribution will help brighten the spirits of many patients during a difficult time,’ hospital CEO Steven M. Altschuler said.
“So many of our teenage patients find inspiration in Taylor Swift’s music.”
Director of the Psychosocial Services Program at the cancer center Lamia Barakat continued, saying, ‘We can think of no better way to use her gift than to grow our Adolescent and Young Adult project aimed to assist the mental well-being of our teens with cancer.’
Splash News claims that although the donation was made in 2013, the money’s distribution was only recently made public.
Up until the middle of June, Taylor will be making stops all over the world on her Red Tour.
The singer said that she is already anticipating her next album, saying at a press conference in China, “I’ve already been working very hard on it and it’s already my favorite thing that I’ve ever created.”
The thought that I will be able to return after Asia to finish everything and get everything wrapped up for a new project is really thrilling.
Following the military takeover of Thailand last week, Taylor was forced to postpone her sold-out show there.
On Tuesday, BEC-Tero, the concert promoter, declared on their website that the show had been canceled “due to recent events in Thailand.”
‘I’m sending my love to the fans in Thailand,’ the singer tweeted in response to the announcement. The cancellation of the show makes me very upset.
June 9 was the scheduled date of the show in Bangkok. There is a curfew in place throughout the nation, and everyone is expected to be indoors by 10 p.m. It is, however, hardly enforced.
