The first person from The Tortured Poets Department who is said to have been in a song to talk about Taylor Swift’s new record is Matty Healy. TMZ got a video of Swift and Healy talking to a paparazzi this morning in Los Angeles. Swift dated Healy for a short time last summer.
Healy was asked how he thought Swift’s “diss track” about him stacked up against the other 30 songs on the record. Healy answered, “My diss track?” not sure what to say. He then said, “I haven’t listened to the album that much, but I’m sure it’s good.”
It is thought that more than one track on Tortured Poets is about Healy and his long experience with Swift. The couple went on a public date in May 2023 and broke up in early June 2023, but they were dating in late 2014. In between dates, they were friends.
Fans think that some of Swift’s songs, like “My Heart Will Go On,” “Guilty as Sin?,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Down Bad,” “The Black Dog,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)”, and “Fresh Out the Slammer,” are about Healy.
Two people who knew Healy talked to Us Weekly about how he felt about Swift’s record when it came out. One person said that Swift’s team told Healy about the record. One of them said, “He was worried that their story would be told in a bad light.” He was “really appreciative” of that. He was afraid that people would not get the whole story.
“He was also very worried about the Swifties, but he’s glad he can move on with less stress,” the person said. “They broke up quickly, but their love was real and passionate.” The source said that the ex-couple “doesn’t talk anymore, but they had a strong bond.”Healy “will always have a special place in her heart.”
A second source said that Healy was “relieved” that the record was out. “Matty still has a lot of respect for Taylor, but we were all scared about what she might have said on the album,” the source said. Friends and family of Healy “couldn’t be happier” with how Tortured Poets turned out.
