Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift seem to be fighting again on her new record, The Tortured Poets Department, but Kardashian wishes she had just left it at that.
When a second disc of the 34-year-old singer-songwriter’s record came out just two hours after the first one, fans thought she might be going after the 43-year-old reality TV star.
Fans thought it was about Kardashian because it had a song called “Thank You, Aimee,” which was written as “Thank you, Aimee,” which is a capital letter spelling out “Kim.”
But on Tuesday, a source told People that Kim had forgotten about the fight, and she hopes Taylor can do the same.
‘She’s over it and thinks Taylor should move on,’ the person said, adding that Kim ‘doesn’t get why Swift keeps bringing it up.’
They made it clear that it had been years.
But it’s said that Taylor is still thinking about their fight, and fans of both artists are sure that she is.
On Monday, Kim went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Some of Swift’s angrier fans complained on social media that the host hadn’t asked her about Thank You Aimee or their old fight.
Someone on Instagram said, “Why not ask her about the Taylor Swift song that North will be singing?”
Someone else wrote, “Jimmy, I’m sure you weren’t supposed to talk or ask questions about Taylor or TTPD, but you could have “slipped up” a few times and called her on AIM.”
Someone liked the interview a lot, but they thought Kim wasn’t asked about Taylor. During the interview, she did clear up some lies about herself, though.
Fans think Thank You Aimee is about Kim because of the chorus: “All that time you were throwing punches, I was building something/And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel/Screamed “Aimee” to the night sky as the was gushing/But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”
In another part of the lyrics, Taylor talks about getting rid of “defining clues” about the person she’s singing about. She then adds, “I changed your name,” which made more people notice the title’s strange capitalization right away.
There has been a fight between Taylor and Kim since Kanye West’s album “The Life Of Pablo” came out in 2016.
The line refers to when the 46-year-old rapper cut Taylor off during her win at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. It is said that the singer was asked to approve it, but she says she never did.
People had talked to Taylor about the song, but she was “never made aware of the actual lyric.
Kim shared an edited clip from the studio of Kanye calling Taylor and doing what seemed to be getting her OK. This was meant to back up his story.
But the clip shows him talking about the idea rather than the exact lyrics. When the whole call was leaked later, it was clear that the use of, which seemed to be a big deal for Taylor, was left out totally.
After a few years, things seemed to get better, and Kim said on Watch What Happens Live in 2019 that the three of them had “moved on” from their fight.
The Blank Space artist didn’t see it that way, though. In an interview with Elle later, she said, “It would be nice if people who bully us could say sorry.”
She told People, “But maybe all I’ll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could make it through it and thrive despite it.”
Taylor’s work has never been better or more well-known than it is now, but she said in her 2023 TIME Person of the Year profile that the fight “took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”
“You have a fully manufactured frame job in a recorded phone call that Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to prove I was lying,” she raged.
Outside of California, where at least some of the people involved were likely during the original call, it is against the law to record a phone call without their permission.
Taylor also said that her stress caused her to move “to a foreign country” afterward.
“I stayed in a rental home for a year.” I was scared to answer the phone. She said, “I pushed most people out of my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore.” “I fell hard.”
Since Thank You Aimee came out, Swift’s fans, who call themselves “Swifties,” have been making fun of Kim in the comments section of her Instagram account.
