The 20-year-old singer even had a grand piano brought outside for the event. She played for a small group of fans with the help of an orchestra.

Live streams of the show could be seen on MTV, Country Music Television, and VH1.

There was a small party and CD signing for the singer after the spontaneous performance, which was also shown live on TV and the internet.

People who watched the show had a chance to win a trip with Taylor on her upcoming tour.

Taylor’s trip to New York comes after rumors of a new relationship between the singer and Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays Jared in Brokeback Mountain.

Reports say that the two spent the weekend together and went to Saturday Night Live to support Emma Stone, Taylor’s friend.

A source told People magazine, “They showed up together.”
