Swift spent her early life on Reading, Pennsylvania’s Pine Ridge Farm, an 11-acre Christmas tree farm. She writes a lot of songs about her childhood there, like “Christmas Tree Farm” and “Seven,” which were both on her Grammy-winning record “Folklore.”

Soon after, though, the Swifts moved from the farm to a 3,560-square-foot house in Pennsylvania at 78 Grandview Boulevard in Wyomissing. Swift stayed in the house until 2004. After that, she and her family moved to the Nashville area so Taylor, who was then in high school, could start her music career.

Narcity Philadelphia and the property’s sale history both show that the Swifts bought the house in 1997 for $280,000. The house sold for $800,000 in June 2022, less than the $1,099,000 it was listed for in February.

The home was sold by Eric J. Miller and Eric P. Miller of The Eric Miller Team at RE/MAX of Reading, Pennsylvania.

The historic house was built in 1929 and has nice features like crown molding, brick stoves, and a butler’s pantry.

Over the years, different people have owned the land and made improvements during that time.

People who bought the house found things from when Swift lived there while they were remodeling it. When Daniel Mashevsky bought the house in 2007, the Philly Voice says that a note that Swift had written about a trip to Disney World was found. But those Easter eggs have probably been lost for a long time now.

At different times, it has changed hands and had upgrades, but real estate agent Eric P. Miller told Insider that there are also many things that have stayed the same and been kept in great shape over the years.

Swift went to the Wyomissing Area Junior High School while she lived in the house.

It was weird being me in Pennsylvania. If I didn’t have to go to parties on the weekends, I would play singer-songwriter nights,” she told Philadelphia Magazine in 2008. Anyway, I think it’s weird for 13-year-olds to go to parties and get drunk. After moving to Nashville, I became a normal kid.

The first songs she wrote were mostly after she started high school in Tennessee. Songs like “Teardrops On My Guitar” and “Tim McGraw,” which she wrote in math class, are examples.

The house is 3,560 square feet and has five bedrooms and three and a half baths.

The house was built so that the Lauers, a well-known family in the Reading area who lived next door in a stone castle, could have an in-law suite.

As Miller told Insider, it was normal “once upon a time” for people, especially wealthy families like the Lauers, to build houses right next to each other for different family members.

“It wasn’t always to this scale, however,” he noted.

The nearby textile mills used to provide jobs and income for the nice area.

Miller said that Grandview Boulevard is known for its many historic and custom houses that have a nostalgic feel to them.

“It’s almost like the top of the hill in Wyomissing,” he noted. “It’s a great location, without question.”

There are historic touches all over the house, like the big windows with panes and the fireplace in this cozy sitting area.

Swift is still interested in old houses. She bought a seaside house on Watch Hill in Rhode Island in 2013.

The house was built in 1930 and was once owned by Rich Lady Rebekah Harkness, who married into the Standard Oil family business. The house has a long and interesting past, which Swift wrote about in “The Last Great American Dynasty,” which was on her album “Folklore.”

Most people in the area know the house as the place where Taylor Swift grew up.

Outside the house, Miller said, “I’ve heard that people have stopped and taken pictures.” “People who know it’s her house make a point to go there.”

She also made a private movie in the house to the 10-minute version of “All Too Well” in which she dances in front of the historic home.

A big stone column and a door that opens to the yard can be found at the back of the house.

This is one of the most interesting historical facts that Miller told Insider about the back of the land.

“The back of the house is even more dressed-up than the front,” he added. “That’s because people lived in the back at that time.” In line with the style of the house, parties were held in the backyard.

The house has a pool and a garage that can fit two cars.

It’s never been proven, but Taylor Swift might be talking about her childhood home in Wyomissing when she says in “The Best Day” that she grew up in a “pretty house.”

Miller said, “I was born and raised in Wyomissing.” “We’re a small town and a tight-knit community, so whenever you have someone who has accomplished as much as she has, you’re proud that they came from where you’re from.”
