Anya Taylor-Joy is disclosing every little detail about the culinary scenes in her most recent movie.
In the thriller-comedy The Menu, starring Ralph Fiennes as chef Julian Slowik, a young couple journey to a secluded island to dine with him. Taylor-Joy, 26, co-stars with Nicholas Hoult.
During an interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan on Tuesday, the actress claimed that Hoult “went for it — every meal, take after take” since he was so committed to the film. “There was one day I was genuinely concerned about his health.”
“It is known as bread gate. He consumed so much bread on each meal—I am talking about the equivalent of a small whale’s weight in bread. She continued, “I thought, ‘Oh, he is not going to make it.'”
The cuisine for the movie, which also stars Reed Birney, John Leguizamo, Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, and Judith Light, was chosen by renowned chef Dominique Crenn.
In the second season of Chef’s Table on Netflix, Crenn made a notable cameo and, in Taylor-Joy’s words, “was the real rockstar”.
As actors, we put in a lot of work, and part of our research was visiting upscale restaurants and watching every episode of Chef’s Table. Sincerely, it was quite exhausting “During her visit on the talk program, she made a joke.
Particularly from Fiennes, Taylor-Joy’s performance in the next film, which opens on November 18, is already getting positive reviews.
Fiennes,59, said he could not choose a “best” actor from the “wonderful, brilliant” cast of actors in the film, but he called Taylor-Joy’s performance “extraordinary” while speaking at PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly’s photo and video studio at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival in September with director Mark Mylod.
“Taylor-Joy is an incredibly natural actress,” he remarked. There are moments when you can tell that the person you are acting with is sincere, and it is incredibly beneficial. In some ways, it really ups your game. She also possesses that.
