‘So Impressed by You’ Billie Eilish and Finneas Step Out to Support Mom Maggie at Benefit for Her Nonprofit

Tuesday night in Los Angeles, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas went out together to support their mother Maggie Baird and Support+Feed, the food security and climate change nonprofit she founded three years ago. It was a family affair.

With heartfelt speeches, Eilish, 21, and Finneas, 26, brought the nonprofit is inaugural annual fundraiser to a close. Earlier in the evening, Baird had given actress and singer Janelle Monáe a special inspiration award for her Wondalunch initiative, which feeds families in Los Angeles with plant-based meals and pantry staples.

“I am thinking to myself, ‘Damn, she did that!'” as I stare at my mother. And you folks encouraged that! The performer of “What Was I Made For” stated. “I am extremely proud of my mom, and I strive to be more like you every day. You have accomplished something so amazing here. You have really impressed me.

Meanwhile, Finneas made light of the fact that he and Eilish merely “made a bunch of music in our bedroom” as the foundation of the group.

“We settled our mother’s mortgage, and she promptly founded a nonprofit organization,” he remarked, evoking laughter from the small gathering at Niku Nashi. “Our mother serves as our moral compass and North Star in many aspects of our existence. And this is not an isolated incident.

The Grammy winner went on, recounting a hike he went on with Baird early in the epidemic, during which she expressed her desire to provide meals for patients and hospital staff as well as to support the closure of vegan eateries in Los Angeles due to COVID-related difficulties.

He stated, “It has been incredibly moving to see it grow into a whole enterprise and to see all these people take time out of their busy lives and donate whatever they can, whether that is money, time, or skill.” Furthermore, compared to the amount of money that other people have contributed to this, making a financial contribution has felt like a secret code. I am thus deeply humbled.

In addition, Baird expressed gratitude to her singer-songwriter children, telling them that they “made this happen.”

She remarked, “Whether you acknowledge it or not, you have supported us, talked about us, and given us a platform.” As stated, you have encouraged other musicians to collaborate with us. I understand that you find it difficult to feel good about yourself, but just give it a shot for one day.

In attendance were Benny Blanco, Amanda Kloots, Moby, Alicia Silverstone, and Vince Staples at the inaugural Support+Feed fundraiser. As attendees savored APB cocktails and Niku Nashi’s plant-based sushi, rising talent D4VD also played a three-song acoustic set.

Along with Monáe, the event honored environmental educator and activist Isaias Hernandez, L.A. city coordinator Julie Schmid, and Main Street Advisors, Wasserman Foundation, and WhatIF Foods. It was organized in collaboration with The Darkroom.

Support+Feed was established in 2020 and has since provided up to 400,000 plant-based meals and pantry supplies in 41 different cities worldwide. The group is urging people to eat one plant-based meal a day for thirty days or more.
