Despite underperforming at the box office, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s film, valued at around $200 million, still makes it into Netflix’s top 10

The days of watching movies just in theaters are long gone. The monopoly ended with the invention of television. In the meantime, a film’s success and analytics were entirely determined by its box office performance. These days, that process has undergone a modification. The emergence of over-the-top (OTT) platforms has led to the adoption of new metrics and standards for movies.

Movie Review: 'Black Adam'

Consider a Dwayne Johnson film, for instance. Despite having a budget above $200 million, Black Adam was a box office failure. Nevertheless, the picture has succeeded in securing a spot in the top 10 Netflix films!

Black Adam makes it to Netflix’s Top 10 list

Following his part in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, Dwayne Johnson conquered the DC universe. His film Black Adam is currently ranking in Netflix’s top ten. A new licensing agreement between Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix has led to a rise in popularity for popular DC films such as The Suicide Squad and Batman.

Although the movie has received 6.2/10 on IMBD and 38% on Rotten Tomatoes it has still managed to come in the top 10.

Black Adam swiftly climbed to #7, marking the best-performing DC movie in five years as per Cosmic Book news. It also surpassed titles like Wonder Woman 1984 and Gunn’s Suicide Squad. With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on the horizon, Johnson’s influence in the DC realm seems unmatched, despite missing out on a takeover bid to James Gunn.

The dynamic takes an interesting turn thanks to Johnson’s Black Adam and the conceptual overlaps between Gunn’s DCU and Superman: Legacy. There is now a lot of chatter in the community regarding possible Black Adam 2 sequels. However, this is a spoiler for those who haven’t seen the first installment!

What is the main plot of Black Adam’s?

The story of Black Adam’s centuries-long return to Kahndaq revolves around the Crown of Sabbac, the Justice Society of America, and the rise of Sabbac, a powerful foe. While Adam struggles with his past, the JSA battles the zombies and tries to stop Hawkman from dying as predicted.

Ultimately, Adam embraces his role as Khandaq’s protector, defeating Sabbac and solidifying his commitment to safeguarding his homeland. The story concludes with a warning from Amanda Waller and a confrontation with Superman in a mid-credits scene.
