There were some cute times when Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were together at the MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey on Tuesday.
The Bad Blood singer, 33, and the Only Murders in the Building star, 31, have been friends for a long time and were seen giving each other a warm hug at the event with all the famous people.
Both Gomez and Swift cheered for each other as they won awards. Gomez won for Best Afrobeats Video for her work with Rema on “Calm Down,” and Swift won four awards for “Anti-Hero.”
Swift excitedly cheered Gomez on as she took her award. She was seen standing in the front row and telling people to cheer and stand up for Selena as well.
While Swift gave her first award speech of the night, Selena was seen showing respect by standing up for her friend while everyone else stayed in their seats.
It had been a while since the friends had been seen together in public.
In 2008, they became friends while they were both dating Jonas Brothers. Taylor was seeing Joe, and Selena was seeing Nick.
In a 2017 interview with KIIS FM UK, Selena said that her friendship with Swift was “the best thing we got out of those relationships.”
At the event with lots of famous people, both women looked stunning.
A red Oscar de la Renta dress with a deep V-neck, a fringe, and a sheer underlayer made Selena look stunning.
The beautiful halter-neck dress had a fringe that looked like vines at the bottom, and she wore red heels with straps.
Taylor, meanwhile, showed off her toned legs in a black Versace dress that fit her very well and had buttons across her chest.
Some of the singer’s friends in the business, like Sabrina Carpenter and Nicki Minaj, gave her hugs.
At the event, she was also seen hanging out with Sonyae Elise and Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Swift had a great night because she won in several categories.
“I love making pop music, I love making pop music videos, and I also love making country,” she told the crowd as she accepted the award for Best Pop for Anti-Hero.
“I love jumping from one genre to another, and the only reason I can is because you, the fans, let me.”
She also said, “One big adventure, and it’s so much fun to push myself to make music that’s different from what I usually do. I love you for that.” But I love making pop music, so thank you very much.
Swift won her second Song of the Year award for Anti-Hero.
In her second speech, she said, “I want to say that I’m really, really lucky that I get to write songs with one of my best friends in the world. His name is Jack Antonoff.” “I feel so lucky to have been making music with him since we worked on the album 1989. We’ll keep working together until 2089!”
As the night’s third winner, Swift won for Best Direction for the video for her hit song “Anti-Hero.”
As she gave her third speech of the night, she thanked her “brilliant collaborators” and said that being a director “is definitely a team sport.”
Swift’s fourth Video of the Year award went to Anti-Hero.
