The Christopher Nolan-directed historical epic won Best Picture and Best Actor, with Cillian Murphy taking home the top three awards. Nolan also won Best Supporting Actor.

On the other hand, Barbie, who famously triumphed over Oppenheimer in the ‘Barbenheimer’ box office battle during the summer, only took home one trophy—Best Original Song—for What Was I Made For?, which was performed by Billie Eilish and Finneas McConnell.

As he took the stage, Downey Jr. expressed his happiness at finally winning an Oscar for his depiction of Lewis Strauss, humorously thanking his “terrible childhood.” This came after host Jimmy Kimmel made a very embarrassing joke about his drug use.

The over-50-year-old actor defeated fierce competition to win the Academy Award, including American Fiction’s Sterling K. Brown, Killers of the Flower Moon’s Robert De Niro, Barbie’s Ryan Gosling, and Poor Things’ Mark Ruffalo.

In addition to Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Original Score for Ludwig Göransson, and excellence in film editing, Oppenheimer took home seven Oscars in total.

Al Pacino did not bother to list all the other nominations when he declared Oppenheimer the winner of the Best Picture Oscar.

Following the simultaneous July 21 release of the two movies, Barbenheimer captivated moviegoers who turned seeing one movie into an occasion by seeing the other right after.

Barbie was the highest-grossing film of the year according to box office rankings in the United States ($636.2 million) and abroad ($1.445 billion).

Oppenheimer came in third on the global box office charts ($957.8 million) and fifth on the domestic charts ($326.1 million).

Emma, 35, defeated an outstanding field that included favourites Lily Gladstone from Killers of the Flower Moon, Annette Bening, Nyad, Sandra Huller, Anatomy of a Fall, and Carey Mulligan, Maestro, despite a wardrobe malfunction.

Emma instantly admitted that there was a problem with her outfit as she entered the platform and gave a heartfelt acceptance speech.

“Oh, boy,” she exclaimed. My outfit is damaged. I believe it took place in I am Just Ken. I am rather certain. Oh my goodness, this is really, truly overwhelming. I apologise; my voice is also a little muffled. Whatever.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph gave a tearful acceptance speech and opened the Oscars by winning the coveted Actress in a Supporting Role for The Holdovers.

The Colour Purple, America Ferrera, Barbie, Jodie Foster, Nyad, Emily Blunt, Oppenheimer, Danielle Brooks, and Nyad were among the fierce competitors defeated by the gifted 37-year-old actress.
