Among the famous celebrities who have resided in the Wasteland in the past are Mel Gibson, who starred in the film’s first three installments, and Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, who co-starred with Nicholas Hoult and Zoë Kravtiz in Fury Road. 

 Anya Taylor-Joy says Charlize Theron was “so classy” and gave her the blessing to play Furiosa, the Mad Max character.

Taylor-Joy plays a younger version of the title character played by Theron in the movie Furiosa, which also tells her backstory. According to the official synopsis, “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus.”

The summary goes on, “As they make their way through the Wasteland, they stumble to The Immortan Joe’s Citadel. Furiosa must overcome numerous obstacles as she works to piece together a plan to get home while the two Tyrants struggle for supremacy.”

Anya Taylor-Joy is eager for people to return to the Wasteland and see her work.

During her conversation with Laverne Cox on the red carpet prior to the 2024 Academy Awards, the 27-year-old actress could not contain her excitement over her upcoming film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

On the Live from E!: The Oscars red carpet pre-show, she stated, “I think those films just invite in a certain kind of chaos.” The franchise also includes the films Mad Max (1979), The Road Warrior (1981), Beyond Thunderdome (1985), and Fury Road (2016). 

She joked that the stories also appeal to “a certain kind of crazy person” to tackle them, and she also mentioned how close she feels to the various performers who have already starred in the franchise. 

“Therefore, I identify deeply with everyone who has set foot in the Wasteland in any of the flicks. Taylor-Joy remarked, “We are just — we are a family,” and that the Mad Max alumni are all “forged in the fire” together.

During the filming of Queen’s Gambit, which stars Chris Hemsworth as a villain, the actress claimed to be the “dirtiest and the bloodiest I have ever been” to IndieWire.

“I have been on a different planet for the last seven months,” she said, referring to the 2022 filming in Australia. “I believe I should take a seat and make an effort to process everything that has transpired over the past seven months.”
