Viewers have already witnessed how Alia Atreides and Princess Irulan, their respective characters, produced such powerful dynamics that advanced the story in the already-released sequel. Villeneuve is actually eager to collaborate with both of them once more in the near future.

Villeneuve was equally astounded by Pugh’s portrayal. He stated to Radio Times that he intended to approach her role in the same way as he approached Zendaya’s Chani. In the third movie, viewers will be able to witness more of her adventure.

“I went up to her and told her that Irulan will travel from Part Two to the upcoming film in the same way that Chani did from Part One to Part Two.”

In addition, Pugh was hailed by the filmmaker as “one of the best actresses of her generation.” Finding the ideal star who can convey the persona on the big screen with ease simply by her on-camera projection, he said, was imperative.

“I needed an actress who could convey a lot of information with just her eyes and no lines, and one thing that was important to me is that the audience will never perceive Irulan as a victim.”

In the Dune sequel, Taylor-Joy and Pugh both had outstanding performances; but, a contentious change from the original film has left fans perplexed as to Villeneuve’s intentions.
