Singer Billie Eilish Opens Up About Years of Feeling Like Her Body Was “Gaslighting” Her

The way Billie Eilish feels about her body and her experiences with feelings of “gaslighting” by it have been openly discussed in her music.

The singer opened up about her struggles with hypermobility, a condition characterised by extremely flexible joints that can lead to pаin, and the complicated relationship she had with her body thereafter in an interview with Vogue US. The singer revealed that she had to abandon her aspirations of becoming a dancer when she was 13 years old because of a string of injuries to her lower body.

She went on to admit, “I felt like my body was gaslighting me for years,” before detailing her path to self-acceptance. I had to come to terms with the fact that my physical form is an expression of who I am. It has no maliciоus intent towards me.

Additionally, she detailed how, due to her health problems and injuries, her aspirations evolved from dancing to singing in her fantasies.

“I was hurt shortly after we recorded Ocean Eyes,” Billie informed. So, music kind of replaced dancing,” she wrote of her now-infamous yet stunning debut single, which she uploaded to SoundCloud. This was the beginning of her career.

She assures that she is still not forcing information on anyone. To be more specific, I will not instruct you on what to do. I will simply explain to you the reason behind my actions. 

Billie was forthright about the shortcomings of her own environmental initiatives and admitted that she, too, isn’t flawless.

“I really shouldn’t be producing any goods. According to her, she shouldn’t be selling anything. It’s simply additional garbage that will end up in the dump. Rest assured, I am aware of that. Still, people will continue to dress for social reasons. Things will continue to be manufactured. For that reason, I always try to do my best.

“I would prefer not to be seen as a show-off,” she continued. “I am creating an impact!” I would prefer to remain silent and focus on making a difference.
