When an A-list couple makes headlines, the question that practically everyone has when they see the photo is: is it love or is it publicity?
Some have alleged that a now-viral video of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory showed the NFL tight end telling the hitmaker to start hamming up their PDA for the camera. As a result, the video has drawn criticism.
While a large number of admirers are certain that the couple is genuine, some have accused the well-known pair of being fake, with many citing the video to back up their accusations.
The two were pictured in a Las Vegas nightclub following the Chiefs’ 2024 Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers, according to the TikTok video, which has received over 12 million views.
In the fourteen-second video, Travis is shown singing and dancing in the middle of a packed nightclub. He seems to notice when someone starts recording, though.
‘You can’t convince me that this is [genuine],’ is printed on the text overlay as the NFL player bops around in the club.
The author of the video alters the text overlay to reflect what she thinks Travis is saying.
As the couple gets closer, the superimposed text states, “Travis whispers: get ready they’re filming.”
After that, the pair is shown in a still photo taken from a different perspective with the caption, “Mission passed: Respect +.”
The moment the renowned pair serenaded and kissed each other during her song Love Story playing at the victory party inside Wynn Las Vegas’s XS Nightclub, fans went crazy.
The TikTok creator swiftieblues requested fans to “watch it again without reading the subtitles” and leave their thoughts on the video in the caption, clarifying that they did not create the video but simply republished it.
Reactions were divided; some felt that Taylor and Travis’s romance was a publicity stunt.
