Eilish has no qualms about performing hair experiments. She dyed her hair completely crimson in 2022; she had also previously coloured it blond. However, perhaps her most recognisable characteristic are the neon-green roots she sported in 2019 when her career took off. She has additionally experimented with hairstyles, including the “jellyfish” cut at the 2023 Academy Awards.

Although the young singer’s style is in a constant state of change, she has encountered unwelcome public pressure and scrutiny as she has experimented with new looks and branched out. In a 2022 interview with High Snobiety, Eilish discussed why she broke away from baggy clothes for a while to try brighter colors and traditionally feminine looks after the release of her “Happier Than Ever” album.

“People perceived me when I was 15 years old, as a child, who wore and spoke in this manner, exhibited this appearance, and conducted myself in this manner.” I felt as though there was nothing I could do to alter. “That is the reason I travelled to the opposite side for such a considerable distance,” she explained. “I intended to demonstrate, ‘Hey, f*ck you all, I can do whatever I want.'” “I can now appear extremely masculine or feminine at will, and it won’t make for a f*cking headline.”

She continued by stating that her personal style will never be singular. “It’s not that you wear one thing, and that’s your new style — you f*cking keep wearing a bunch of sh*t,” Eilish commented.
