Fans were keeping a close eye on Taylor Swift during her 2024 Grammys outfit.

The superstar, who during Sunday’s ceremony accepted her 13th Grammy and revealed a new album titled The Tortured Poets Department, walked the red carpet wearing an outfit coded for Reputation that turned out to be a complete joke. (Just as her website had forewarned us.)

Swift’s stylist even turned the hands of her handmade Lorraine Schwartz choker to midnight, demonstrating her unwavering attention to detail. This had everyone buzzing about Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” being dropped at midnight on Grammys night. And the event was caught by PEOPLE in the video below (at the 52-second point).

Swift’s website appeared to crash earlier on Sunday, displaying the error message “Error 321 Backend fetch failed.” Swifties soon identified the code as a communication problem that occurs when there is a poor telephone line connection to the fax machine. “Look What You Made Me Do,” the lead song from Reputation, features the well-known opening lyric, “I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now.” Everything seems to be in order, isn’t it? False.

Put the other text here: The bolded sentence reads “hneriergrd.” Quickly, internet detectives unlocked it to reveal the “red herring.” A red herring is a clue that is intended to draw your attention away from another aspect of the game.

It is now clear that the previously mentioned red herring was the new album, which startled fans when she revealed it will be out on April 19.

Swift appeared in a black-and-white ensemble replete with Easter eggs from the Reputation era, and she was nominated for six prizes at the gala on Sunday.

She accessorised the strapless Schiaparelli with 300 carats of Lorraine Schwartz diamonds, black opera gloves, and a black-and-white ensemble reminiscent of the Rep record cover. She even wore six necklaces stacked together; could that mean that Reputation is her sixth album? Even her curly hair and crimson lip appeared to allude to that period of her life’s fashion.

Swift will travel to Tokyo, Japan for the next leg of her Eras Tour, which begins on February 7 with four back-to-back performances. She will most likely return to the United States to support boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Chiefs at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, which also happens to be her 13th game. This will happen after the Grammys broadcast.
