During the pop star’s performance on Saturday night in Buenos Aires, Travis Kelce seemed to unintentionally leave Taylor Swift’s father Scott waiting for a high-five.
The 33-year-old pop sensation created a stir among her fans when she altered the lyrics of her popular song Karma to mention her new lover, the Kansas City Chiefs, who was cheering her on from the VIP tent with her father.
Taylor substituted the original line, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me,” with “Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me,” when surrounded by her backup dancers on stage at the Estadio River Plate stadium.
A stunning video that went viral showed Travis, 34, smacking his palms across his face in complete surprise when he heard the spectacular improvisation. After that, he proceeded to perform some elegant dancing steps.
However, astute admirers pointed out that he had unintentionally overlooked Scott’s attempts to give him a high five during the endearing shout-out due to his excitement.
During the verse change, Scott—a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan—raised his fists in the air while sporting a Kansas City Chiefs lanyard, but Travis was too preoccupied to see because he was burying his head in his hands.
Fans were quick to point out Travis’s embarrassing error, leaving him looking red-faced.
“I thought I was the only one who noticed,” remarked a second person, and “Help, I didn’t even realize this is so funny,” observed still another.
“His reaction is so pure omg, poor Papa Swift didn’t get his high-five,” another person said.
Others, on the other hand, believed Scott wasn’t actually ignored and was just celebrating by raising his arms.
‘I didn’t think it was an effort at a high-five, I thought he had both arms up, like to praise him, lol,’ a fan commented.
Taylor was thinking about Travis more than just the lyric alteration; throughout her rendition of “Willow,” she mouthed the line “that’s my man” and sung to him directly.
